Papers of Peshine, chiefly drafts of his dispatches to the Department of State sent during his tenure as U.S. military attacheĢ in Madrid. Included are reports on the Spanish military and diplomatic establishment, information about the Spanish forces in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Also included are a few California land papers relating to the affairs of Peshine's father-in-law, Dr. James L. Ord.

John Henry Hobart Peshine, American military officer and diplomat. From 1893 to 1897 he served as military attacheĢ at the court of King Alfonso XIII as. Peshine then served in the Philippines during and after the war with Spain, retiring from active duty in 1903. He died at Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1928.
